Wellness & Prevention
At Wellness Animal Hospital, we take a comprehensive approach to your pet’s preventive care.
Physical exams
The basis for all veterinary medicine is the nose-to-tail physical exam and palpation. Our veterinarians will manually and visually assess
your pet’s body systems, including their skin, teeth, eyes, ears, heart, lungs, abdominal organs, and joints, to identify disease, pain, injury, weakness, or deterioration. Our veterinarians will review any significant findings with you and may suggest additional diagnostics. Our senior pets are so precious to us that we often recommend a physical exam every six months due to fast changes in their health once they reach their golden years.

Heartworm testing
Heartworm disease is a preventable but deadly condition affecting dogs and cats. This disease is transmitted by infected mosquitoes, and
affects pets in all 50 states. Annual heartworm disease screening tests are a simple and fast way to identify circulating heartworms, as break-through infections can occur with as little as one missed dose. Once your pet’s test confirms they are heartworm-free, we will recommend year-round heartworm prevention.

Fecal parasite testing
Dogs and cats can harbor intestinal parasites, including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, giardia, and coccidia—some
of which can be transmitted to other pets and human household members. Annual screening tests look for parasite eggs in your pet’s stool, and any diagnosed infections are treated with deworming medications.
